Echoes: Monochrome

A radical deconstruction of the human silhouette into a singular architectural inquiry. High-contrast black and white strips away distraction, transforming the body into a rhythmic frequency — a graphic blueprint of movement and belonging.

Echoes: Chromatic

7 works

The architectural line begins to soften, absorbing the warmth of the organic world. A palette of ochres, sepias, and fleshy taupes re-establishes connection to the physical body — the echo becomes a pulse, the figure dissolves into a collective terrestrial field.

Ether: Portrait Series

The human face treated not as a fixed identity, but as a site of profound psychological transition. Through the intentional obscuration of sight — blindfolds, veils, gold leaf — the figure turns its gaze from the external world toward the vastness within.

About the Artist

Alexandra Dumitrescu

Visual artist based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Painter, educator, and maker of large-scale textured originals since 2012.

Alexandra Dumitrescu

Alexandra Dumitrescu's practice is rooted in a deep engagement with the human form — deconstructed, reconstructed, and ultimately dissolved into the rhythms of line, texture, and colour. Working from her studio in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, she builds large-scale canvases in layers that demand a physical, rather than purely visual, engagement.

There is no abstract art — you must always start with something. Later on you can remove all traces of reality. This conviction drives her process: each series begins with the figure and moves inward, peeling back representation until only essence remains. The result is work that feels simultaneously ancient and urgent, intimate and monumental.

Expressing through art is my way of communicating all the elusive feelings I otherwise keep hidden. Right then, in the process of creation, the boundaries become non-existent.
